Priority Processing Dates

All complete BSW and MSW applications received by the priority processing dates will receive a decision within 30 days or less.
All complete applications submitted after the priority processing dates will be considered for admission, but will receive a decision within 30-60 days.
Bi-Weekly Information Meetings
The School of Social Work conducts bi-weekly information meetings on its programs. Schedules of undergraduate, masters and doctoral degree information meetings are available for download as "PDF" files or can be obtained by calling the school's Office of Admissions and Student Services toll-free at (866) WSU-SWRK (978-7975). Potential applicants are encouraged to attend one of these meetings prior to applying.
BSW Admission
The School of Social Work offers admission to the BSW degree program in the fall semester.

Submit to the Wayne State University Office of Undergraduate Admissions the Application for Undergraduate Admission with the appropriate fee and official transcripts from colleges or universities.
- Submit to the School of Social Work's Office of Admissions and Student Services, the Application for Admission, Bachelor of Social Work Degree Program.
- Applicants must have earned a minimum overall grade point average of 2.50, provide 2 references, a Personal Interest Statement and a copy of transcripts from all colleges attended that demonstrates the ability to pursue successful undergraduate professional education in social work.
- Applications may be submitted after the student has completed 40 semester credits in course work or its equivalent at the freshman and sophomore levels.

MSW Admission
Applications for full-time or part-time study in the Master of Social Work program may be submitted as early as one year prior to the term in which the student wishes to enter the program. New students admitted to the core year of the MSW program are enrolled in September.
- Submit the Application for Graduate Admission to the Wayne State University Office of Graduate Admissions with official transcripts of all credits previously earned.
- Submit to the Office of Admissions and Student Services of the School of Social Work, the Application for Admission to Graduate Study, School of Social Work and related materials.
- Applicants must complete 30 semester credits in academic work, distributed in the social and biological sciences and in the humanities, and demonstrate suitability and fitness for the profession and the ability to undertake successfully graduate professional education in social work.

Doctoral Admission
It is strongly recommended that all prospective applicants attend a PhD Program Information Meeting and attend a WSU workshop for financing graduate education sponsored by the Office of Financial Aid.
