Qualified Admissions Status
The Qualified Admissions Status (QAS) program is a recruitment and retention strategy to assist applicants who demonstrate a strong commitment to and potential for success in the profession of social work but need additional preparation. The QAS allows limited access to the MSW program. To be eligible for this status the applicant must meet the minimum 2.6 GPA required for admission to the Graduate School, preferably experienced in the human service field, and follow a QAS Plan of Work identified by the school.
The QAS Plan of Work requires that the student take a minimum of one graduate social work course per semester for two semesters but not more than 9 credits in all, and must maintain a 3.0 GPA in all coursework. The school policies for academic termination apply to students in the QAS. With the successful completion of a QAS Plan of Work, the student's status will be changed from qualified to regular admit and allow full access to the MSW program.
This enrollment status allows students to be eligible for financial aid, strengthens their identity with the school and provides a greater opportunity to mentor their development.
