Biography
Before joining the School of Social Work faculty in 1991, Professor Margaret O'Kane Brunhofer had ten years of clinical social work practice experience and was an assistant professor of social work at Siena College in Loudonville, N.Y. Her fields of expertise are social work practice, professional ethics, and grief and loss. Professor Brunhofer's current interests include complicated mourning reactions, family reactions to loss, and intervention with the bereaved. She has presented at national and state conferences on children and grief, clinical assessment with the bereaved, and grief reactions following traumatic brain injury. Within the community, she has provided in-service training to hospital social workers, home health care professionals, rehabilitation staff, school personnel and social work clinicians on a range of grief and loss issues.
