Biography
Professor Lois Garriott joined the School of Social Work on a part-time basis in 1987 after working in community mental health for St. Clair County. She has been a full time faculty member since 1990. Her area of expertise is treating post-traumatic stress disorders. She has a private practice in which she works with individuals, families and groups.
Ms. Garriott has an interest in international social work and has worked with a fellow social worker in Russia to help develop the social work education programs in Kazan, Tatarstan, Russia.

Academic Interests
Professor Garriott's current research interest is exploring the long-term consequences of childhood trauma (chronic), especially sexual abuse.
