New Bachelor of Social Work Program Option
BSW Where Online Works! (WOW!)
To apply to the WOW! Program, you will need the following:
- Earned a minimum 2.50 grade-point average
- At least 64 college-level credits before starting the program.
- All prerequisite coursework completed ( See attachment for a list of these courses)
- Regular access to an updated computer system and related software necessary for successful completion of college-level courses.
Full Time BSW Course Format includes Math.

Frequently Asked Questions
How do I apply for the Bachelor of Social Work (BSW) WOW! program?
Admission to BSW WOW! occurs in the winter term only. Apply online at www.socialwork.wayne.edu. All applicants must also apply to the Wayne State University Office of Undergraduate Admissions at admissions.wayne.edu.
When can you apply?
The School of Social Work offers rolling admission, so applications are accepted year round.
When is the deadline to apply?
The Priority Processing date is October 1, complete applications received by this date will receive a decision in 30 days or less. Complete applications received after October 1 will receive a decision in 30-60 days.
What are the admission requirements?
- Complete 64 credit hours
- Minimum 2.5 GPA
- Completion of all social work prerequisites
- Regular access to an updated computer system and related software necessary for successful completion of college-level courses.
How long will it take to complete the BSW WOW! program?
It takes five semesters to complete the program.
Are there field placements?
A substantial portion of the professional component is field work, which provides learning experience in the actual practice of social work. Block Field placement is during the 4th semester (winter), Monday-Thursday for 8 hours per day.
Is Math required for the program?
All students seeking a degree from Wayne State University must complete MATH 0900 and/or MATH 1000 (or transfer an equivalent course from a community college) prior to admission to the program. Student that have not completed math competency must enroll in Math 0993 during the first semester in the program.
What type of technology is needed?
Students will need regular access to an updated computer, related software, a high speedinternet connection service and a webcam (webcam optional).
What kind of software is needed?
BSW WOW! uses Blackboard and Wimba technology
