Essential Functions (Job Duties) Supervise interns assigned to the Community Advocacy Program, including case assignments, training, monitoring and evaluating performance, and initiating corrective or disciplinary actions. Ensure interns maintain work plans, task lists, and project timelines on a regular basis, and track members/participants and progress towards achieving success indicators. Maintain on-call availability for community-based advocate interns. Provide direct service support to survivors of domestic violence including, but not limited to: crisis intervention, safety planning, information and referrals, transportation, court accompaniment. Assume primary responsibility for case level data collection. Retrieve or produce deliverable documents and presentations for law enforcement agencies, public safety organizations, and community organizations. Communicate reliably, clearly and effectively with the Center's community partners, including community leaders, local politicians, and community based organizations. Represent the program at local events, community gatherings, workshops, and trainings (must be available nights and weekends). Represent the program at domestic violence awareness events, professional meetings, work groups, and trainings. Participate in grant-writing activities, including conducting literature reviews, drafting related sections, as well as reviewing and revising sections of proposals specific to domestic violence prevention. Prepare clear and concise project updates for the project director and Center Directors.
Qualifications Masters degree in social work with two years post graduate is required. A license in social work is preferred. Prior knowledge and technical experience in a supervisory capacity required. Prior experience training and managing employees required. Three years of work experience as an advocate (or comparable position) for survivors of domestic violence is required. Familiarity with Detroit neighborhood areas required. Strong problem resolution, organizational, analytical, and communication (oral, written, and advanced note-taking) skills. Strong capacity to collaborate and work as a team member.
