TITLE: Volunteer Coordinator/Community Educator

REPORTS TO: Trainer/Intern Coordinator

CLASSIFICATION: Full Time Non-Exempt

GENERAL DESCRIPTION & QUALIFICATIONS: The Volunteer Coordinator /Community Educator will coordinate volunteers to assist all programs and projects at Turning Point. Will manage, train, and evaluate volunteer program, ensure volunteer appreciation efforts and volunteer placements. The Community Educator will work in partnership with Prevention Education Staff/Prevention-Education Coordinator to develop a systematic network of prevention efforts for the reinforcement of anti-violence beliefs; rape, dating violence and sexual harassment awareness education, and support spaces and resources. This position will maintain and organize documentation and data generated from all duties, and will provide crisis intervention and follow up when necessary. This position supervises volunteers. This position requires travel between area schools. A Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent work experience, and prior experience and knowledge in the area of domestic violence or sexual assault preferred. Must possess excellent public speaking skills and experience. Must be able to work with diverse populations and youth. Must have empathic listening skills, excellent verbal and written communication skills. Must be able to work flexible hours. Must have reliable transportation, insurance, a valid Michigan Driver’s License and a good driving record. Must pass a criminal background check as a condition of employment.  Salary Range: $15-$17 per hour.
