Accountability: Reports to Executive Director

General Description of Position

This position supports the mission of the Urban Renaissance Center (URC) by taking responsibility for directing and overseeing the operation of the Rebounding Readiness (workforce readiness training), Health House, Community Events, and other URC community services to ensure all programs are managed effectively with strong, documented outcomes and standard operating procedures. This position is a grant-funded position.

Principal Duties and Responsibilities

  • Program Development & Management
    • Develop and maintain curricula, program descriptions, and associated documentation for all programs
    • Review and revise program materials by engaging the Executive Director and/or board members and other staff on a regular basis
    • Work with URC staff and partners to implement and manage regular processes for tracking program activities, outputs, and outcomes
    • Track interventions with URC program graduates and other people served to document outputs and outcomes
    • Create and maintain strong relationships with URC program staff, leadership, board members, partners, funders, and URC program participants
    • Work collaboratively with URC staff to align programs with on-the-job learning opportunities (e.g., URC Construction Program and Clean & Green)
    • Provide Executive Director and Board Treasurer with regular updates on progress toward stated grant goals and objectives
    • Manage programmatic outcomes relative to grant finances in partnership with Board Treasurer and other staff
    • Develop written reports for funders, donors, stakeholders, and other audiences
    • Create simple communication materials to engage various audiences in programs
  • URC General Support
    • Work hand-in-and with Executive Director and Board Leadership to advance URC’s mission
    • Revise organizational policies and procedures to support program needs
    • Manage URC fundraising efforts in collaboration with Executive Director, including

developing grant applications for funding, tracking private donations, and leading efforts to

grow URC’s base of supporters

  • Expand URC’s existing systems for organizational management (e.g., file sharing, database) and help other staff utilize systems effectively
  • Help refine existing office management and operational procedures in collaboration with Executive Director

Qualifications

  • Required Qualifications
    • Experience working with people in poverty in a professional setting
    • Understanding of nonprofit management best practices as well as business

management

  • Must be able to maintain confidentiality of individuals served
  • Must maintain compassion and balance of the mission and needs of URC with

requirements to maintain grant standards

  • Ability to work with those in poverty and treat them with respect and honesty
  • Fluency in Microsoft Office suite and comfort learning new software skills
  • High level of adaptability and flexibility in approach to meet individual needs
  • Bachelor’s degree in related field or equivalent combination of continuing education

and experience

  • Experience writing successful grant proposals and managing grant-funded programs
  • Desired qualifications
    • Experience developing and managing programs in a faith-based environment
    • Experience coordinating and managing volunteers
    • Experience working in Flint and an understanding of the local nonprofit landscape

Physical Demands

While performing duties, employee has to sit for long periods of time, use hands in repetitive motion tasks, and answer telephone calls. The position also requires some standing, stooping, and bending while working with training programs and light lifting. Employee is expected to work onsite, Monday through Friday, with minimal travel.
