PURPOSE OF POSITION:

LCCC seeks to fill the full-time position of Substance Abuse Prevention Coordinator. This position provides staff support to the Livingston County Community Alliance and works as part of a team to follow-up the Annual Action Plans within a Federal Drug-Free Communities Grant and a State Grant. This position will assist in the planning, coordination and implementation of a variety of community-based prevention strategies as assigned by the Director of Substance Abuse Prevention Programs. This position will conduct community-organizing strategies to network the substance abuse prevention activities with local organizations, businesses, schools, the faith-based community, law enforcement and other sectors. The Substance Abuse Prevention Coordinator will serve as a member of the Substance Abuse Prevention team and participate in a variety of program related activities. As a member of the Substance Abuse Prevention Team, the Coordinator provides back-up support to other team members.

EDUCATION/SKILLS REQUIREMENTS:

  1. Education: MSW in Social Work or a closely related MA. Licensure as a LMSW or LPC is preferred but will also consider a LLMSW or LLPC.
  2. Experience: A minimum of one year of experience with substance abuse prevention and/or community outreach. A closely related internship will meet this requirement.
  3. Additional: A demonstrated ability to work with a variety of professional and support staff in a productive and team-oriented manner. An ability to function well in a multi-task environment. Experience working in the broader community is a plus. Some evenings are required.
