Essential Functions (Job Duties)

Leads the development, administration, and implementation of the Michigan Developmental Disabilities 
Institute research initiatives including contracts, grants and the Institute research council. Position reports directly to the Director, Development Disability Institute. 

Essential Functions: 

Leads the development, administration and implementation of a research agenda on behalf of the Institute including convening the MI-DDI Research Council, identifying appropriate federal, state, and foundation funding opportunities. 

Leads the design of project research and evaluation procedures/protocols; 
Oversees data collection and analyses using computer-based programs; 
Coordinates data collection activities which may include large survey mailing, face-to-face and telephone interviews, focus groups, etc.; 

Oversees report writing and project meetings. 
Supervises staff on related projects. 
Publish and present at national, state and local conferences on research-related work.  

Unique Duties

 

Qualifications

Minimum 2 years of job-related experience, Doctoral degree in human services, social work, public policy and allied health or related field. Preferred experience/track record in designing, obtaining and implementing large-scale research initiatives. 

Individual possess demonstrated experience in the disability field and/or services and supports to individuals with disabilities. 
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities: 
Minimum qualifications include strong analytical skills, demonstrated excellence in oral and written communication skills, proficiency in word processing and data collection using computer based programs (MS Office, Excel, etc.), and demonstrated history of good attendance, punctuality and ability to work both independently and as a team member.  

Preferred Qualifications

Preferred experience in statewide research project management, the development and delivery of training programs, or the delivery of services and supports to individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities.
