Description:

Under the supervision of a Mental Health Program Director and Program Coordinator, regular full time Mental Health Therapist will work as part of a team of professionals to assist individuals of all ages in accessing urgent, emergent and routine mental health and substance abuse services for those with Severe Mental Illness, Severe Emotional Disturbance, Substance Use Disorder, Co Occurring Disorder and Intellectual and Developmental Disabilities. May travel to inpatient hospitals to assess individuals and provide liaison services. May work one evening until 8 pm. May assist with utilization review and authorization of in-patient psychiatric hospitalization. May lead aftercare team. May be responsible for maintaining list of combined treatment orders and assisting in the completion of the probate court process.

Duties:

Provides office and community based assessments to determine eligibility for CMH services as well as substance abuse screenings, referrals and authorizations. Provides crisis intervention as needed and pre-screens for in-patient psychiatric hospitalization.

Qualifications:

Education:

Possession of a Master's Degree in Social Work, Psychology or related field. Training in bio-psychosocial assessments, substance abuse and crisis intervention. If degree is in Social Work, must be Michigan Licensed Master's Social Worker (LMSW) or Limited Licensed Social Worker (LLMSW) with the intent and ability to obtain a LMSW within two years of hire. If degree is in Counseling, must be a Michigan Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC) or a Limited Licensed Professional Counselor (LLPC) with the intent and ability to obtain a LPC within two years of hire. If degree is in Psychology, must be a Michigan Limited Licensed Psychologist (LLP) or Michigan Licensed Psychologist (LP) or Michigan Temporary Limited Licensed Psychologist (TLLP) with the intent and ability to obtain a LLP within two years of hire. Vaild Michigan drivers license.

Experience:

Prior experience in working with persons with Serious Mental Illness, Serious Emotional Disturbance, Substance Use Disorder and Intellectual/Developmental Disabilities. Experience in providing crisis intervention preferred. Must be able to work in a fast paced environment with time limited deadlines for documentation. Must be proficient with electronic communication and able to work with an electronic medical record.
