Description:
Under the supervision of a Mental Health Program Director and Program Coordinator and guidance of the lead clinician, Mental Health Assistant provides support and crisis stabilization services to people with serious mental illness and co-occurring substance use disorders in office- and community-based setting. Clinician must function well as part of a team and have good knowledge of community resources.
Duties:
Regular part-time (28 hours/week) position as Mental Health Assistant for adults with serious mental illness and co-occurring substance use disorders. Under the guidance of lead clinician, mental health worker provides supportive community services such as assisting and teaching a consumer to obtain housing, employment, medical care, transportation, recreation, financial benefits and other available entitlements. Mental health worker provides interventions in office, home and community settings for adults with serious mental illness.
Qualifications:
High school diploma required. Valid Michigan driver’s license required. Some evening or weekend hours may be required. EXPERIENCE: Experience working with people with mental health needs preferred. Experience working in a community mental health clinic preferred. Ability to work as part of a team of professionals in a public mental health setting required. Ability to enter data efficiently and accurately into an electronic medical record.
