MISSION
The International Institute of Metropolitan Detroit [IIMD] is a Detroit-based nonprofit agency
created in 1919. IIMD transforms the lives of low-income immigrants, refugees and native-born
Detroiters through innovative solutions to advancing integration and self-sufficiency.
POSITION OVERVIEW
The FAE&T Plus Program Manager/Financial Coach is an essential position to fulfilling IIMD’s
mission. The position provides leadership, management and coordination in support of IIMD’s
efforts to help move low-income individuals and families in Detroit out of poverty by providing
foundational skills, technical training, credentialing and access to living wage employment. The
person in this role will also direct and provide superior client service and financial coaching to
participants enrolled in IIMD’s FAE&T Plus program and the Center for Working Families
[CWF] program.
The FAE&T Plus program is paramount to IIMD and its efforts designed to ensure Detroit
residents have the skills, training, credentialing and education needed to gain living wage and
sustainable employment in the City of Detroit. The program is designed to provide support
services, management, resource coordination, and direct connections to intra and inter training
and career development opportunities.
The FAE&T plus program complements grant funding from the Detroit Employment Solutions
Corporation [DESC] and is determinant on successful program administration, grant related
activities, and outcomes. Essential to the position is the ability to form and maintain professional
relationships with participants and funding partners. To be successful in this role, IIMD is
seeking an individual who is highly committed to service and uplifting low-income populations.
RESPONSIBILITIES
• Manage daily operations, oversight and meet expected annual goals of IIMD’s FAE&T Plus
Program and CWF framework;
• Provide high quality, knowledgeable and compassionate 1:1 financial coaching to
beneficiaries enrolled in IIMD’s Center for Working Families program;

• Professionally establish and manage interpersonal relationships with beneficiaries and
funding partners including, but not limited to DESC management, CWF program officers,
and MiWorks! Association Administrators, Reading Works, etc.;
• Professionally represent IIMD and promote the agency’s mission at all times;
• Lead, develop, plan and facilitate professional development workshops and financial
empowerment workshops;
• Manage an active case load of beneficiaries enrolled in IIMD’s FAE&T Plus program;
• Enter accurately and timely reports into the State of Michigan’s One-Stop Management
Information System [OSMIS] and the CWF’s Salesforce data management system;
• Attend all necessary trainings, professional development, workshops and conferences;
• Assist with recruitment and distribution of outreach materials;
• Supervise and train students and volunteers;
• Additional duties as assigned;
REQUIREMENTS
• Demonstrated commitment and dedication to IIMD’s mission, the City of Detroit and
Southeast Michigan’s low-income populations;
• In-depth knowledge and understanding of the City of Detroit, its residents, environment,
demographics and the issues affecting their wellbeing and outcomes highly preferred;
• Bachelor’s degree required; Master’s degree preferred;
• One to three years of experience providing case management to low-income and diverse
populations required;
• One to three years of experience providing financial coaching/advising to low-income
individuals required, including creating spending and budgeting plans, credit checks, opening
checking and savings accounts, tax preparation, etc. required;
• Demonstrated ability to form and maintain professional interpersonal relationships with
participants, stakeholders, and funding partners required;
• Demonstrated ability to manage, lead, direct and facilitate programs and services in order to
best serve the interests of client population;
• Strong ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously while working in a fast-paced
environment required;
• Demonstrated ability to adhere to grant requirements, deadlines and timeless required;
• Demonstrated Knowledge of Detroit’s workforce development initiatives including Detroit at
Work, Mayor’s Workforce Board, MiWorks! Association, training centers, educational
facilities and programs strongly preferred;
• Strong knowledge, experience and connections to critical local and state resources and
benefits, including MDHHS, LEO, LARA, etc.
• Demonstrated ability to communicated effectively with supervisors, staff, clients and partners
required;

• Strong ability to work independently, with little supervision, as well as with a team required;
• Ability to work a flexible schedule, accommodating the needs of clients, including working
evenings, weekends and some holidays [flex time is provided] is required;
• Demonstrated initiative while maintaining the integrity of the agency required;

nonprofit agency.
