The Center for Clinical Management Research at the VA Ann Arbor Healthcare System is seeking a full-time Research Coordinator/Therapist to support two studies, led by Dr. Allison Lin MD, In.Reach (Examining feasibility and acceptability of telemedicine for substance use disorder) and Understanding the Impacts of COVID-19 on Specialty Care Telehealth Uptake and Sustainability within the Veterans Health Administration in Ann Arbor, Michigan.

In.Reach is a project that is pilot testing motivational interviewing and cognitive behavioral therapy programs delivered via telehealth (MI-CBT TeleTx) to help improve substance use and other related outcomes in SUD patients who are not receiving SUD care. We will examine feasibility and acceptability of these pilot MI-CBT programs. Understanding the Impacts of COVID-19 on Specialty Care Telehealth Uptake and Sustainability is a project aimed at characterizing changes and variation in specialty telehealth use as a result of COVID-19 and exploring intended and unintended consequences of COVID-19-related expansion of specialty telehealth qualitative and mixed method analysis.

Job Description:

The Project Coordinator/research therapist will work directly and closely with the Principal Investigator while providing coordinator support and functioning in a lead research therapist role. The position involves directly contributing to the planning, execution, and documentation of study activities, to include post-study manuscript writing and submission. Additionally, tasks include providing support and training for study therapists, coding for manualized intervention fidelity, and risk assessment management. We are searching for candidates who are positive, highly motivated, and well-organized. Prior research experience is desired. The ideal candidate will be highly interested in professional growth within the field of research. A great position with opportunities for growth and mentorship.

Requirements: 

A Bachelor’s degree in public health, science, or social science (or related field) is required. Ideally, the candidate will have a Master’s degree in public health, social work, or other psychotherapy backgrounds. Knowledge of and experience with qualitative research techniques is preferred. Excellent interpersonal skills. Organized and attentive to detail. Experience working with patients with substance use disorders and mental health is strongly preferred. Must be a self-starter, able to work independently, and able to work on multiple projects simultaneously. We are looking for someone who enjoys what they do! U.S. citizenship is required.
