Democracy Organizer

Flint Public Health Navigator
Location: Flint
Part-time, Temporary (6 months)
Compensation: $15 an hour
Job Summary
The Michigan United grassroots Public Health Navigator program has been in partnership with the Genesee County Health Department since its inception in May 2020. The work of our Navigators is incredibly important as we enter the second year of the COVID-19 pandemic, particularly in light of the urgent need for large-scale vaccination to overcome the virus. Many of the communities that are most vulnerable to COVID-19 have the least access to information and resources to protect themselves and their families.
Detroit Public Health Navigator

Job Summary
We are seeking a full-time organizer to build the capacity of residents in trial Michigan to engage in impactful local organizing. This work will be conducted in several counties across rural areas and small-towns in Michigan to build community power, understand issues impacting small-town and rural communities, and organize with people most impacted by intersecting hardships. Digital GOTV Canvasser

Job Summary

The ideal candidate has organizing experience using digital tools and is already personally active on social media.
GOTV Canvasser
Location: Wayne

We are seeking enthusiastic Canvass Managers that will work directly with a Voices for Vaccines Coalition partner. Canvass Managers will manage a door-to-door neighborhood canvassing program to share COVID-19 vaccine information in a non-judgmental manner, provide resources and address barriers to accessing vaccinations, and encourage your community to get vaccinated.

Communications Director

The Communications Director (CD) will work to control the public narrative around our campaigns through the use of earned, paid and social media to deliver strategic messages. This work will involve developing and executing a communications strategy for each campaign issue and working with staff and volunteers to carry them out day to day. They will not only be able to respond quickly to emerging events that affect fluid campaigns at the state and national level, but also be proactive in developing messaging in anticipation of changes to the current state of play. The CD will consult with organizers to plan direct actions and other events to draw press attention, mobilize leaders, and generate engaging images and videos. They will prepare leaders and staff to talk with the press about the issues we organize on and how they impact their lives. The CD will generate press releases and advisories, make pitch calls, and develop relationships with various media outlets across the state. The CD will track and catalog all resulting press coverage. They will also manage crisis communications for the organization.
