Posting: LMSW Volunteer Intern Supervisor Wanted

September 24, 2021

Gianna House in Eastpointe, Michigan is looking for a licensed MSW volunteer to supervise Wayne State social work intern students. We feel this can be done in-person or virtually, and the commitment would be about 1 hour a week. We believe this is an exciting opportunity for students and potential supervisors alike! Because of COVID-19, our community outreach program has been on hiatus this last 6 months. Working directly with Olivia Cessna, the program manager, the interns would be charged with organizing and implementation, while also being partly responsible for community outreach, and recruitment to the program. As a recent WSU graduate herself, Ms. Cessna is committed to fostering a supportive learning experience for students. Administrative staff are still LL's with less than 2 years post-graduate experience, so we are activating our network to find someone who is passionate about education and our mission.

A little bit about Gianna House, our motto is "Saving two lives at a time." We offer a residential program for young women (ages 13-25) who are pregnant, or have recently given birth, that are housing insecure. We are committed to being a resource for mothers and parents in our community. That is why we also offer a community outreach program that allows parents to earn "baby bucks" by attending parent-oriented classes. From there they can redeem their baby bucks to attain needed baby/child supplies from our vast inventory of donations (diapers, wipes, breast pumps, strollers, cribs, etc).

If you are interested in talking more about this opportunity, please contact Olivia Cessna at ocessna@giannahouse.org or call (269) 615 3042. Visit giannahouse.org for more information about our organization. Thank you!
