High School Social Worker
Detroit Public Safety Academy:
DPSA is a public charter high school located in Corktown, Detroit. DPSA serves about 180 students from grades 9-12. DPSA provides these students a life-changing opportunity to earn a high school diploma while participating in career training and/or Wayne County Community College courses.
Regular Duties:
- Evaluate students to determine their need for school social work or other services
- Assist in the development and implementation of measurable IEP goals and objectives
- Participate in IEPT, MET and other meetings as appropriate
- Establish and maintain appropriate records, reports, and procedures including, but not limited to, behavioral data and student progress on IEP goals/objectives
- Communicate with mental health/child services or other agencies to coordinate services
- Make referrals for students and parents to appropriate resources with the school or community
- Participate in Child Study, Eligibility and Special Education related meeting
- Provide crisis intervention services as needed
- Develop effective intervention strategies for students
- Conduct functional behavioral assessments and create behavioral intervention plans to address student needs and target behaviors
Qualifications:
- Master’s Degree in Social Work
- Must be licensed (within 12 months of start date) - LMSW or LLMSW
- Must meet Michigan Department of Education requirements for full/temporary approval as a School Social Worker and licensing from the Department of Community Health or be willing/able to obtain same.

$50,000 per year
