Job Requirements

  • Master's degree in mental health related field such as; social work, psychology, or/and counseling.
  • State of Michigan Full or Limited License (MSW, Professional Counselor, Psychologist)
  • 1 year of experience engaging children and families within a framework of cultural competency
  • Good assessment / diagnostic / treatment planning skills.
  • Able to work with a variety of service providers employing a system-of-care philosophy
  • Ability to work with children and families in the community-based settings as needed.

Essential Functions

  • Conduct assessments to determine medical necessity and service eligibility
  • Demonstrate effective and efficient assessment skills
  • Complete all required paperwork and psychiatric referrals according to agency and program deadlines.
  • Arrange and follow through with referrals for families at intake, during ongoing treatment and at closing.
  • Maintain appropriate certifications/licenses to provide clinical services throughout employment.
  • Attend all required training to enhance skills and meet Agency guidelines and as required by the State of MI, COA, and other agencies governing the operation of the Agency.
  • Create and maintain a welcoming environment for clients and families.
  • Maintain strong communication and collaboration with other programs and support staff.
  • Maintain clinical records, report, case notes, etc. in the appropriate electronic record systems.
  • Complete all required paperwork and psychiatric referrals according to agency and program deadlines.
  • Collaborate and maintain professional standards and conduct when interacting with clients and their families, agency staff, community resources and all others while performing job responsibilities and duties.
  • Ensure that all services meet contractual obligations and applicable billing requirements
  • Act in accordance with client recipient rights guidelines.
  • Ensure that established quality assurance standards are met
  • Maintain completion of crisis assessments through disposition within three hours of meeting with family.
  • Complete clinical documentation and other forms within 24 hours
  • Utilize the ICD-10 and DSM-V to determine diagnosis.

Physical Requirements

  • Mobility-non-residential: Ability to traverse stairs and other uneven terrain to gain access to and to maneuver throughout offsite locations including office buildings and special event locations.
  • Administrative Work: Ability to prepare and inspect documents in hard copy or electronic format. Ability to tolerate exposure to computer screen and operate computer/keyboard and other office equipment on a frequent and/or continuous basis.
  • Communication: Ability to receive and exchange information and accurately and effectively communicate and converse with others.
  • Provide Instruction: Ability to convey detailed instructions or ideas accurately.
  • Lifting: Ability to lift up to 10 Lbs.
  • Sitting: Ability to sit for extended periods of time.
