David Allasio

Biography

David Allasio has been a clinical social worker at Children's Hospital of Michigan since 1991. His various roles have included 13 years as Child Protection Team coordinator, 13 years as the Burn Center social worker, and nine years at the ICU social worker. Before joining the hospital, he worked as a vocational rehabilitation social worker and foster care worker. He has expertise in child abuse and neglect and assessment interviewing.
Allasio has taught at the School of Social Work since 1995 and at Siena Heights University since 1999. He has published on shaken baby syndrome, abusive scald burns, toddlers ability to reach onto a kitchen countertop, abusive contact burns, and parents satisfaction with the outcome of burn unit inpatient pediatric care. Allasio was nominated by his students and selected by a School of Social Work committee to receive the schools 2013-14 Part-Time Teacher of the Year Award.
