Biography

Bushman completed the MSW degree program from Wayne State University in 2012 as an Advanced Standing student. Her focus on mental health began working as a direct care staff with adolescents in long-term psychiatric residential placement. After attaining her MSW, she spent the next 9 years working at a Community Mental Health agency in Detroit. Her professional experience includes intensive community-based case management and homeless prevention, individual and group therapy using Evidence-Based Practice modalities (EBP), conducting screenings, assessments, and crisis interventions within an intake triage unit, and serving as clinical manager over various programs (case management unit, specialized residential program, individuals adjudicated not guilty by reason of insanity [NGRI] on Assisted Outpatient Treatment [AOT] Order). She joined the School of Social Work in 2021 as an Academic Services officer in the School’s Office of Field Education.

Responsibilities

Responsible for internship placements of B.S.W. and M.S.W. students. Her other responsibilities include co-facilitating the Seminar for Field Instructors event, serving as faculty field liaison for assigned undergraduate and graduate students, and assisting with the recruitment, evaluation, and retention of agencies requesting field education affiliation. She is also responsible for the development of policies and procedures related to field education, reinstatement and termination, and professional and technical standards.
