Job Summary:
The Therapist is responsible for providing direct therapeutic services to residents at Detroit
Behavioral Institute. The Therapist works as an integral member of the multi-disciplinary
treatment team providing clinical insight, direction and support.
Expectations:
? Facilitates group, family and individual therapy for all youth on their assigned caseload
? Develops quality written individualized Treatment Plans, Court Reports and Discharge
Summaries that accurately indicate the needs of the youth.
? Maintains contact with youth’s Referral Source workers and their parent/guardians
keeping them updated on the youth’s individual progress, including their treatment goals.
? Inputs all required documentation (progress notes, reports, etc.) into the electronic record
within required time frames.
? Reviews all assessment information, including psychological and psychiatric evaluations
for assigned residents completing any follow-up activities and recommendations.
? Assists in developing and maintaining community resource information.
? Attends all weekly clinical meetings.
? Participates in regular supervision with Clinical Supervisor.
? Serves as an advocate for youth.
? Responsible to work with state licensing consultant in response to investigation questions,
interviews and requests while on site.
? Actively engages in the milieu during the shift, making self-available to youth and staff for
clinical support and guidance as needed.
Qualifications
a. The Therapist must minimally possess a Master’s Degree in Social Work, Counseling,
Psychology or a recognized related field from an accredited college or university
b. Must be Licensed in the State of Michigan as a Social Worker, Counselor,
Psychologist or equivalent ( LLMSW/LMSW, LLPC/LPC, TLLP/LLP
c. Knowledge of and experience with children/adolescents with mental health needs.
Sensitivity to service population cultural characteristics.
