Camp Caribou is a boys overnight summer camp located in Winslow, Maine. Camp Caribou offers instruction in a wide variety of land and water sports to boys aged 7-15. In addition to the athletics CC also operates a robust wilderness trip and outdoor education program.
Camp Caribou is currently seeking ambitious and enthusiastic leaders for their Wilderness Trip and Outdoor Education team. We guide everything from day trips on local peaks to three day whitewater canoeing trips on the St. Croix river, to three days trips on the Appalachian trail!
Trip staff will become certified Wilderness Trip Guides through multiple state run courses.
Staff will also have the opportunity to become first aid and CPR certified.
In addition, Camp Caribou staff during orientation complete multiple workshops on how to work with children, how to teach to different types of campers, and how to handle various youth social situations.
Through out this internship, students will learn how to safely conduct wilderness trips, how to foster a safe environment within a group of children, how to encourage children to try new passions, and experience multiple state and national parks throughout the state of Maine!
Students will be supervised and mentored by area directors who provide routine feedback, special training during our orientation, mid summer and end of season evaluations, and provide requested references.
