Brief Background of UDC:
- 8-year-old non-profit
- With the support of grants and community funding, we offer families who have a loved one suffering from dementia the following services:
- Training and educational opportunities to raise awareness of dementia’s symptoms, management and coping techniques
- Coaching and counseling on the care and services available to those confronting dementia concerns
- Addressing the sense of hopelessness and assisting with the understanding of (aging) issues including dementia planning for end of life transitions.
- Example of program activities:
- Monthly Lunch & Learn events
- Online exercise programs
- Online Support group
- Respite care program (application)
- Caregiver recognition program with Urban Aging News
- Has an advisory board made up various professionals and entrepreneurs
Position Overview:
- Part-time, paid position (will start at 10 hours/week that may be increased)
- Does not need to be a caregiver or have caregiving experience, but does require some knowledge on older adults
- Hybrid position: majority of efforts can be done remotely, required to attend in-person events
- Position welcomes your ideas, creativity, brainstorming for outreach and connecting to the caregiver community. Particular focus on targeting Black caregivers.
- Approximate start date of April 2023, requires a minimum 6-month commitment
Position will focus on:
- Conducting program outreach efforts (e.g. Marketing events, coordinating community presentations, securing event locations)
- Promoting program resources/services
