Scholarships and stipends help ease the financial burden placed on students, allowing them to focus on their academic goals and pursue internships, research and career opportunities that enhance their learning. With over 84% of Wayne State students relying on financial aid, the gifts we receive are vital to ensure our students have access to the resources and financial support they need. Below you will see a brief snapshot of the impact of this generosity over the last year.
- Fifty social work students received private scholarships averaging $4,011 per student and totaling $284,825
- $13,000 in retention scholarships were awarded allowing students to continue their studies and earn their degrees
The investment of Wayne State alumni, faculty, staff, students and friends was very apparent on April 4th, Wayne State's first ever Giving Day. Social Work hosted a challenge for 100 gifts in one day, and although we ended up shy of that goal, we still set a record raising more than $3,500 from 50 donors! Thank you for your support and investment in the School of Social Work and our students.
