A Position Opening for an Assistant Professor
The School of Social Work at Wayne State University invites applications for a faculty positions at the rank of Assistant Professor. Our new vision, research infrastructure, innovative curriculum, inspired teaching and community engagement make our School an exciting place for those committed to applied research, scholarship and social work education. We are recruiting outstanding candidates with expertise in the areas of health, mental/behavioral health, children and families, community development, poverty and economic disparity. However, candidates in all areas are encouraged to apply. Preference is for candidates whose research and teaching demonstrate knowledge about issues and concerns of urban, poor or vulnerable populations.
Candidates must have a doctorate in social work, social welfare or a related discipline as well as a strong commitment to research, teaching and service. A record of publications and some experience teaching and mentoring undergraduate and/or graduate students is desirable. For candidates interested in teaching courses in foundation practice, a master’s degree in social work plus two years post-master’s direct practice experience is preferred. For those candidates interested in teaching advanced interpersonal practice courses (clinical practice more extensive experience is desired.
The School of Social Work, accredited since 1945, is a national leader in preparing students for professional practice.
