School of Social Work faculty

Diane

Assistant Professor Diane Fuselier-Thompson, PhD

Fuselier-Thompson's research interests include issues of college access and equity, P-20 educational initiatives, urban contexts, minority women in engineering, and global initiatives. "Detroit is home for me. I was drawn to Wayne State University and the School of Social Work in particular because of the location in Detroit and its urban mission driven commitment to its residents. I cannot think of a better way than to bring my 30 years of experience and research back to the area that served as an incredible foundation for my education."

Matt Larson

Associate Professor and CBHJ Director of Implementation Matt Larson, PhD

Larson's research and teaching spans the fields of criminal justice and social work. His research focuses on the transition to adulthood among justice-involved youth, violence, and the intersection of mental illness and criminal justice policy. "Joining such uniquely experienced faculty who are so deeply committed to community-based work and advancing social justice has been invigorating. And to be part of the leadership team at a nationally recognized behavioral health research center right here in Detroit, which is home for me, makes it all the more special."
