May 20, 2017: Join the WSU Social Work Team for the American Heart Association Walk

Why we walk

This year Wayne State University will be hosting the 2017 Metro Detroit Health Walk on campus on Saturday, May 20, 2017 from 8:00 am to 12:00 p.m. The School of Social Work has established our own walking team and we are asking you to join us.

Why?

To promote fun ways to be physically active and make healthier choices every day; and

  1. To show that social workers take action to reduce death and disability from cardiovascular diseases and stroke.

We understand there are many good causes to support. Heart disease however flies under the radar and as the number one cause of death requires our attention. As Team Leaders this is also personal. We walk because we have loss our fathers, mothers, grandfathers, aunts and uncles to this disease. But that does not have to be our legacy.

Be part of the action and show support by joining our Wayne Cares - School of Social Work Team and/or make a donation here

There is no cost to join the team and participate in the walk ($35 fee for 5k run) and although fundraising is encouraged, it is not required to participate in the event. We will have special swag items and an identified gathering spot to join together on the day of the event.

Join our School of Social Work Team today!
