SW 5755: Introduction to Child Welfare

This elective course provides an overview of multiple issues related to child well-being and working with children, youth, and families involved with child welfare services. The course will study family dynamics and the impact of culture, poverty, violence, and addiction on children and families.

The field of child welfare/well-being intersects many disciplines including criminal justice, mental health, education, nursing, and public health, making this course relevant for students in a variety of majors, as well as for non-degree seeking students.

Day/Time: Monday & Wednesday 5:30 to 8:00 pm

Level: Senior or Graduate Standing

Elective: 3 credit hours
