Associate Professor Richard Smith presented the paper "Aging in Place in Gentrifying Neighborhoods: Implications for Healthy and Caring Cities" at the Ecocity World Summit in Melbourne, Australia. He has been a core advisor for Ecocity Builders, the convener of the world summit, for more than 10 years. The conference host committee team was co-chaired by faculty at the University of Melbourne Brenden Gleeson (Urban Planning) and John Wiseman (Social Work). The Honorable Al Gore gave the keynote address at the summit and later received an honorary doctorate from the University of Melbourne.
