What's one of the biggest mistakes you made as a student?
The biggest mistake I made as a student was not taking full advantage of the experience and getting involed. Thankfully my college experience was still awesome!
What approach do you take to advising?
I first listen to my students and focus on meeting them where they are. This is a social work priniciple that I implement in my advising role to ensure students know that I hear their individual needs and am here to support them along their journey to becoming professional social workers.
What is your favorite thing about your job?
Seeing my students grow and explore the various and vast opportunities that Social Work has to offer. Watching them flourish and evolve into social workers who will continue to grow, learn and make a difference in society, their communities and the world is amazing.
Do you have any advice for incoming and graduating students?
My advice to incoming students is the same for graduating students: explore all your options and don’t short change yourself. You never know what great things await you, just be open.
How can students connect with you remotely?
Students can reach me by email at firstname.lastname@example.org or phone at 313-577-9785.
