What drew you to work at WSU?

Wayne State University has one of the best social work schools and I was honored they picked me to be a part of equipping students with the skills to assist communities to become stronger.

What are you most looking forward to in your new position?

I am looking forward to working with the students, staff, and faculty to continue striving for success academically while using a real-world approaches to motivate change and promote growth for the School of Social Work.

How has your education prepare you for what you are doing today?

My education was a tool that guided me into various communities and through many experiences for those who need support. I am very proud to be a Social Worker and I wear it as a badge of honor. My education opened doors that allowed me to guide individuals in need to a positive place in their life and I am grateful for it.

What's one of the biggest mistakes you made as a student?

As an undergraduate student I made the mistake of not asking for help when I needed it. I was a 4.0 student in high school and was embarrassed to ask for help in college. That was the worst thing I could have done for my academic career. Luckily through encouragement from my family and friends I was able to seek the assistance I needed to be academically successful before it was too late.

Do you have any advice for graduating students and alumni?

Yes, continue to learn and grow! Do not let this degree be your last educational accomplishment. Take all the trainings you can, gain additional certifications, never stop learning. There is always more information you can add to your “tool bag” which will continue to make you successful within your craft.

What is one interesting thing that others may not know about you?

I am a travel agent in my spare time. I love to travel and I always travel for the fun of it!
