The Council on Social Work Education (CSWE) will host their 70^th Annual Program Meeting (APM) from October 24 - 27, 2024 in Kansas City, Missouri. This year’s APM is focused on "It’s time to act: Indigenous Knowledge Sovereignty and Environmental Justice” and will feature presentations focused on innovative teaching/learning approaches, advanced research and new ways to promote racial, economic, and environmental justice.

We encourage you to attend the following session hosted by faculty from Detroit's Social Work School and join us in congratulating the Wayne State recipient, Professor Richard Smith, of the ACOSA Marie O. Weil Best Article Award.

AWARD

Wayne State Social Work Associate Dean for Research and Professor Richard Smith and his colleagues  University of Michigan University Diversity and Social Transformation Professor Camille Wilson, University of Michigan School of Education Doctoral Candidate Paulina Fraser, Independent Scholar Margaret O’Connell Hanna and Independent Scholar Jasahn Larsosa are recipients of the 2024 Marie O. Weil Best Article Award presented by the Association for Community Organization and Social Action (ACOSA) for their article “Anti-racist research practice partnerships as critical education: dismantling the master’s house with their own tools?”. This award recognizes outstanding scholarship published in the Journal of Community Practice during the previous volume year. Authors are selected for their contribution to the field, scholarly approach, and/or promotion of macro practice values. Taylor and Francis, the journal publisher, co-sponsors this award.

ACOSA will recognize the award recipients via a ceremony at the APM on Saturday, October 26, 2024 from 7:00 – 8:30 pm in Mermaid B.
