News and Activities August 2018

The School of Social Work hosted a group of students from the C2 Pipeline 2018 Warrior's College Experience Residential Camp in the School of Social Work from July 23rd through August 2nd. Students interested in pursuing a bachelor of social work or simply interested in the field of Social Work from across Southeast Michigan came to the Social Work building for daily classes hosted by Social Work Lecturer Takisha Lashore and Academic Services Officer III, Shantalea Johns. Wayne State faculty, professional social workers, current students and alumni were included as guest speakers throughout the camp. Additional activities included role playing, break-out group discussions, journaling, genograms, ecomaps, vision boards, readings, and videos. Upon completion of the camp, students received participation cords and certificates from Dean Kubiak and the C2 Pipeline staff at the closing Gala event (pictured below). We would like to extend a special thanks to Lauree Emery, Anwar Najor-Durack, Patricia Dixon, Caitlin Brown, and Geoffrey Jones for assisting Lashore and Johns with the camp.
