Assistant Professor Megan Piel is working with Wayne County Community College District (WCCCD) to provide technical assistance and evaluation of their Foster Care Access and Retention Program. Dr. Piel will provide assistance over three years to help with hiring and training campus coaches, developing curriculum, training staff in other WCCCD departments to support students with a history of foster care and overall evaluation of the program.

Dr. Piel received a Wayne State University Research Grant. She plans to use the funding to study the barriers and strategies to mental health for foster youth transitioning to adulthood. Assistant Professor Jamey Lister also received a University Research Grant to study predictors of heroin abuse recovery.
