The Wayne State University School of Social Work and Department of Anthropology are proud to host the Social Work and Anthropology (SWAN) lecture on Wednesday, Feb. 15 from 2 to 4 p.m. at the Spencer M. Partrich Law School Auditorium. The lecture will be given by Deborah K. Padgett, Ph.D., M.P.H., New York University Professor of Social Work and Global Public Health, McSilver Institute for Poverty Policy and Research Faculty Fellow, Professor of Psychiatry, NYU School of Medicine. Professor Padgett will be presenting “Theory & Method Matters: Finding the Right Combination.†The lecture is open to the public. Tam Perry has been elected to the AGESW Board of Directors.
Rick Smith attended the “Chair Affair,†a 10th anniversary celebration of Recycled Treasures, a social enterprise that trains immigrants and other residents in recycling industries. Cat Stackpoole (pictured), executive director of Recycled Treasures, is a graduate of School of Social Work. Artists created work from recycled chairs as part of the fundraiser. Smith won the 50/50 raffle and donated the proceeds back to the organization.
