Carolyn Dayton was appointed to the advisory board of the Detroit Black Mothers Breastfeeding Association.
Jordan Paige Wyer and Gloria Suanne Rooks (below), two MSW students in the I-CPL concentration, were recognized by the National Association of Social Workers for together registering more than 80 people to vote.

On Thursday, Nov. 3 at 9 a.m. in Room L503 at an editorial board meeting for the Journal of Community Practice, Anna Santiago will formally accept the position as editor in chief in partnership with Richard Smith as co-editor for a three-year term beginning with Volume 26 (January 2018). Dean Cheryl Waites has agreed to be an institutional sponsor of the journal for that term.
The 2016 Michigan Graduate Programs in Social Work Joint Reception at the 2016 CSWE Conference in Atlanta, Georgia will take place on Friday, Nov. 4, 2016 from 6:30 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. at Morton’s The Steakhouse (conveniently located across the street from the Atlanta Marriott Marquis Hotel, the 2016 location of the CSWE Meeting). Dean Waites invites Wayne Social Work faculty, staff, students and alumni at CSWE to attend with a guest.
The Wayne State University School of Social Work Coalition of Community Social Workers (CCSW) student organization has been selected to receive the Association for Community Organization and Social Administration (ACOSA) 2016 Outstanding Student of the Year Award at the CSWE Annual Program Meeting on Saturday, Nov. 5 from 6:30 to 8:00 p.m. in the International 1-3 room. This national award will be accepted by MSW Academic Advisor Tamarie Willis, MSW student Dominique Schroeder and BSW student Caleb Claudio for the CCSW student organization’s work on the 2016 TIP Kidspeak event and ongoing engagement with the SSW mission and commitment to child welfare.
