Jerry Brandell will present two papers this month: “Deepening the Treatment: An Adaptational Viewpoint,†to be given at the MCPP Symposium, A Special Program of the Michigan Council for Psychoanalysis and Psychotherapy, sponsored by the Michigan Psychoanalytic Council; and “Psychoanalysis and Social Work Academe: Challenges and Opportunities,†presented as part of an invitational panel (Reveille for Radicals: Advocating for Psychotherapy in Graduate Education), at the 15th National Conference of the American Association for Psychoanalysis and Clinical Social Work in Baltimore.
Angelique Day has been invited by the NASW Foundation and the Council on Social Work Education to present as part of a panel at the upcoming Social Work HEALS Student Policy Summit on March 7, 2017. View here more information on this initiative.

On March 10-12, Lauree Emery will present a recent paper on the benefits of Classical Guitar Music Therapy with clients suffering from anxiety, grief and loss ("Los Beneficios de la Guitarra Clásica con Clientes que Sufren de la Ansiedad y la Pérdidaâ€) in Oaxaca, México at the Conferencia Internacional de Terapistas de Música. Dr. Emery specializes in music therapy.
Kim Jaffee (below, third from right) was a health disparities panelist at Medical Equity's Annual Health Disparities Research Conference held at Wayne State University on Feb. 18, which focused upon raising awareness of public health disparities and empowering students to alleviate health disparities in their own communities.
Shantalea Johns received the Michigan Academic Advising Association's professional development grant to attend the National Academic Advising Association, Region V Conference in Rosemont, Ill. On March 14-17, while there, Shantalea will present twice: “There is Power in Numbers: Utilizing Group Advising to Promote Student Success†and “Destination Leadership: Exploring Opportunities through the Emerging Leaders Program†(with her colleagues from Carroll University and Siena Heights University).
Takisha LaShore, Tamarie Willis, and Shantalea Johns will present at the University of Sheffield in South Yorkshire, England on July 10-13. The title of their presentation is “Projective Identification: Advising from an Urban Administrative Perspective.â€
