Sue Brown presented a talk entitled “Supporting Child Development in the Child Welfare System†to child welfare professionals from Michigan’s lower and upper peninsulas in Cadillac, Michigan, on June 2.
Dr. Brown presented on trauma-informed care in working with elders to care managers from Detroit’s Hannan House on June 21
Angelique Day, in partnership with Tricia Bent Goodley (Howard University), Tonya Perry (Alamaba A & M University) and TIP student and newly enrolled MSW student, Neoshua Butler, will be giving a Women's Issues Symposia entitled, "National Committee on Women's Issues: Social Worker's Perceptions of Workforce Challenges Survey" at the National Association of Social Worker's Conference on Friday June 24th in Washington DC. This same team will also be presenting a symposia on Human Trafficking at the same conference.
In June 2016, Social Work faculty member Richard J. Smith co-presented a paper coauthored by Kwan Ok Lee (School of Design and Environment - National University of Singapore), and George Galster (Urban Planning - Wayne State University) at the London School of Economics, which hosted the Association for Public Policy Analysis and Management International Conference on Inequalities. The paper, “Subsidized Housing and Residential Trajectories: An Application of Sequence Analysis,†demonstrated how low-income families in subsidized housing had similar neighborhood trajectories over a 20 year period as those who formed households in the private market after matching on household characteristics. Tamarie Willis and Shantalea Johns have been selected to co-present “Embracing our Differences, Changing the World: An Urban Advising Perspective†at the 2016 WSU Academic Advising Summit on Sept. 19-20.
