Suzanne Brown presented to the Parent-Infant Program of the Guidance Center in Detroit on Addiction, Stages of Change, and Motivational Interviewing, and consulted with Infant Mental Health clinicians in August.

Michael Kral will participate in a one-day continuing education workshop, “Depression & Suicide: Assessment, Prevention and Treatment,” on Sept. 16 at the WSU Student Center in the Hillberry Room. Dr. Kral will speak on cultural components of depression and suicide. The workshop is worth up to eight CEUs in psychology or social work. Doctoral student Ann Carrellas presented at the Child Welfare League of America 2016 National Conference in August in Garden Grove, Calif.  The theme of the conference was Advancing Excellence in Practice and Policy: What Works for Families Affected by Substance Use.  Ann’s presentation focused on Michigan’s collaboration of national, state, and community groups in lifespan prevention and interventions related to children, youth in transition, and adults who have Fetal Alcohol Spectrum Disorders. Ann is a project manager at the Developmental Disabilities Institute here at Wayne Staet. Part of her work is coordinating the strategic planning and activities of the Michigan FASD Task Force.
