The Facilitators and Barriers to Appropriate Consumer Use of Antibiotics study is launching
Joanne Sobeck and Joanne Smith-Darden are partnering with Henry Ford Health System to study appropriate consumer use of antibiotics in the Metro Detroit. Social work students will soon be conducting intercept surveys with community members about their antibiotic use. The study is funded by the Urban Center for Antimicrobial Resistance, Discovery, Education and Stewardship (UCARDES) at Wayne State University.
Flint Area Community Health and Environmental Partnership
Joanne Sobeck, Joanne Smith-Darden, Poco Kernsmith and Susan Lebold are part of a Wayne State University collaborative team working to address the Flint water crisis. Social work will be involved in Legionella surveillance teams, a youth initiative this summer to engage Flint youth in leadership development, and placing macro social work students in the Flint mayor's office as a field placement site.
