Tom Romito

Biography

Tom Romito has spent his entire career working with students and focusing on their success. For nearly 30 years he was a social studies teacher at Lake Orion High School. He has also taught as a part time faculty member at Oakland Community College and Oakland University. In each of those roles he has worked to engage students and help them construct knowledge and meaning. Romito hopes to take his extensive experience working with a diverse range of students and use it to provide support and encouragement to the Social Work students at Wayne State.

Responsibilities

As a success coach Romito will be working with BSW students, providing a support system and seeking to increase engagement for all students, specifically those in the WOW program. In light of the unique challenges that online programs present, Romito will be working to foster connections and partnerships among the students and the broader campus community. He will serve as a bridge between the students and the wide range of resources the university provides. He will also be providing individualized coaching to students to promote their success.
