Biography
Rachel is the Manager of Research Support, Research Administrative Services at Wayne State University, School of Social Work. In her position, which she has held since March 2023, Rachel is responsible for all areas of research administration, including both pre- and post-award grant management, providing financial and administrative advice and support services to Principal Investigators and other research staff. Before coming to the School of Social Work, Rachel was a Research Assistant focusing on pre/post grant administration in the Department of Radiology, School of Medicine from 2012-2019. She has worked at non-profit and for-profit companies from 2002-2023 providing administration, technical leadership / assistance and oversight in the grant financial administration area. She has extensive experience in administration including the grant lifecycle, pre/post-award management, and the preparation and submission of grants, monitoring award expenditures to ensure compliance with State and Federal laws and regulations; including preparing financial statements, analyzing project reports, and preparing and submitting progress reports.
Responsibilities
As a Grant/Contract Administrator, Rachel oversees the financial and record-keeping side of the annual grant-making process for all grants received. She works closely with the Senior Grant/Contract Administrator, Principal Investigators, and research staff to ensure accurate financial reporting and procedural compliance on all grants, including governmental grants.
