Sarah Doyle

Biography

Sarah Doyle earned her Master of Social Work degree from Wayne State University and became an active member of the School of Social Work Alumni board. She joined the School of Social Work in 2012 as an Academic Advisor after working for over 10 years with at-risk youth and families in a variety of settings. In 2020, Doyle was selected to join the School’s Office of Field Education as an Academic Services officer and in 2021 began the position of Associate Director of Scheduling and Administration. She currently serves on the Detroit Perinatal Wellness Coalition Board, a member of the Michigan Statewide Perinatal Mood Disorder Coalition, WSU Gender Equity’s, and the Child Care and Lactation committees. Doyle continues her practice as a licensed social worker with a focus on maternal mental health.

Doyle contributed to a WSU campus wide study on breastfeeding in the workplace, and breastfeeding support to female employees. The study highlighted initiatives across campus to support nursing mothers at Wayne State University, which led to WSU receiving the Michigan Breastfeeding-friendly Workplace Award in 2018. Doyle has presented on topics such as parenting on Tenure/ESS track and serves on a number of committees that address barriers that affect women in higher education.

Responsibilities

Doyle directs the New Faculty Orientation and Training Program for all new full-time and part-time members of the faculty (PTF). She oversees the issuance and maintenance of Student Evaluations of Teaching (SETs). Plans, develops, directs and monitors the organization and posting of the School of Social Work class schedules. Serves on the C&I Committee as the Assigned Committee Staff. Doyle manages all official records and documentation of academic policies, policy revisions, curriculum changes and academic procedures for the SSW. She is Co-Chair for the School’s Student Academic Review Committee – and serves as information officer for students’ rights in requesting grade appeals, reinstatement requests and terminations. She is responsible for placement and maintenance of PTFs in teaching pools, teaching ranks, salaries, and annual records of assigned courses. Doyle works closely with the Associate Dean for Academic and Faculty Affairs and the Dean on academic matters where she assists in the pursuit of excellence in teaching and service to students. She serves on the Dean’s Leadership Council.
