Sarah Doyle

Biography

Sarah Doyle earned her Master of Social Work degree from Wayne State University and became an active member of the School of Social Work Alumni board. She joined the School of Social Work in 2012 as an Academic Advisor after working for over 10 years with at-risk youth and families in a variety of settings. In 2020, Sarah was selected to join the School’s Office of Field Education as an Academic Services Officer. She currently serves on the Detroit Perinatal Wellness Coalition Board, a member of the Michigan Statewide Perinatal Mood Disorder Coalition, WSU Gender Equity’s, and the Child Care and Lactation committees. Sarah continues her practice as a licensed social worker with a focus on maternal mental health.

Sarah contributed to a WSU campus wide study on breastfeeding in the workplace, and breastfeeding support to female employees. The study highlighted initiatives across campus to support nursing mothers at Wayne State University, which led to WSU receiving the Michigan Breastfeeding-friendly Workplace Award in 2018. Sarah has presented on topics such as parenting on Tenure/ESS track and serves on a number of committees that address barriers that affect women in higher education.

Responsibilities

Sarah is responsible for internship placements of assigned B.S.W. and M.S.W. students at the School. Additional responsibilities include co-facilitating the Seminar for New Field Instructors, serving as faculty field liaison for assigned undergraduate and graduate students, and assisting with the recruitment, evaluation, and retention of agencies requesting field education affiliation. She is responsible for the development of policies and procedures related to field education, reinstatement and termination, and professional and technical standards. Additionally, she provides support for specialized training programs such as the OWEP, BWHET and Wayne Together Collaborative. Offering her expertise, Sarah also works closely with the Associate and Assistant Deans to provide consultation and support for enrollment management and course scheduling needs of the School.
