Naelah Burks

Biography

Naelah Burks earned her B.S.W. and M.S.W. degrees from Eastern Michigan University. As an advocate for children, her experience consists of working in the child welfare system, as a Foster Care Case Manager and Child Protective Specialist. Furthermore, Burks has worked in the higher education field assisting a diverse population of students with admissions processes and procedures; conducting informational and educational presentations, and cultivating relationships with prospective students. She has also worked closely with the TIRO Student Support Services Program assisting students with disabilities, first generation and low income students successfully transition into the higher education setting.

Responsibilities

Burks provides academic advising to all MSW students admitted with Core/Regular Status, including scheduling, plans of work and degree certification. She also provides academic advisement to those in the Gerontology and Child Welfare certificate programs.
