Anabella Trifan
Biography
Anabella Trifan manages the pre- and post-award research support team to ensure SSW researchers successfully navigate the financial and reporting requirements of sponsored programs, grants, and contracts. Additionally, Ms. Trifan oversees the day-to-day operations and resources of research staff and supports programs for their growth and development. Ms. Trifan has over 8 years of experience managing federal, state, and/or private grants and contracts within Wayne State University. She has a Master’s degree in Accounting from Wayne State University and MBA and Bachelor’s degrees from the University of Babes-Bolyai, a renowned university in Romania. She has a passion for efficiency, a thirst for additional knowledge and always looks for ways to improve workflows and processes for the whole school.
Responsibilities
- Plan, develop, oversee, and implement pre and post award project activities within the School of Social Work.
- Perform needs assessment to evaluate effectiveness of current systems.
- Assist with formulating policies, procedures, and processes to improve research operations of the unit.
- Conduct cost benefit analysis and especially pertaining to cost sharing and new faculty set-up funding.
- Serves in the absence of the Director of Business Affairs. Possess signature authority.
- Train professional and administrative staff throughout the school in appropriate methods and procedures pertaining to grant and contract post awards.
- Serve as a resource to faculty and other staff within the college by providing information and guidance on appropriate use of sponsored project funds.
- Manage the financial and budgetary aspects of the grant award functions, both pre and post, including the development and review of specific budgets and knowledge of the funding process as well as the administrative implementation of the financial, budgetary, and projection of expenditures.
