Biography
Alexis Carl, LMSW is a doctoral student in the School of Social Work at Wayne State University. She received her M.S.W. from Michigan State University in 2016 and practices as a clinical therapist. Carl has direct practice experience providing clinical services in the criminal justice system and has extensive clinical expertise in the areas of trauma and addiction. Carl is interested in criminal justice reform and policy. Of particular interest is addressing the disparities, stigma, and discriminatory practices persons with serious mental illness (SMI) face in the criminal justice system across the sequential intercept model.
