Alexis Carl

Biography

Alexis Carl, PhD, LMSW teaches part-time in the SSW. She received her PhD from Wayne State University and her MSW from Michigan State University. Carl has direct practice experience providing clinical services in the criminal justice system and has extensive clinical expertise in the areas of trauma and addiction. Carl is interested in criminal justice reform and policy. Of particular interest is addressing the disparities, stigma, and discriminatory practices persons with serious mental illness (SMI) face in the criminal justice system across the sequential intercept model.
