Biography
Madison Magness joined the School of Social Work in 2019 and graduated with her BSW in 2021, followed by her MSW degree in 2022. Madison joined the Center for Social Work Research (CSWR) Support Lab in April 2021 as a Student Research Assistant while completing her MSW degree at Wayne State University. Ms. Magness was promoted to Outreach Coordinator in September 2022 and supervised the Student Research Assistants/Techs at the CSWR Support Lab and worked on the Substance Use Research Team (SURT) until October of 2023. In October 2023, Ms. Magness started working full-time on SURT as a Research Assistant assisting with evaluation tasks for the State Opioid Response 3 (SOR 3) grant and the American Rescue Plan Act (APRA) grant. Madison’s research interests include recovery from emotional abuse in romantic and familial relationships, treatment and recovery for substance use disorders, and holistic healing in mental health treatment.
Responsibilities
In her role as a Research Assistant on SURT, Madison serves as a research support person for the Evaluation Project Manager on the SOR 3 and ARPA grants. Research support tasks include coordinating with MDHHS on a variety of projects related to the grants, developing data collection tools, producing written reports, attending evaluation meetings with grantees, developing surveys, conducting data analysis, and facilitating trainings for substance use treatment providers on SOR 3 data collection.
