Biography
Tyrell Nelson-Woodward joined the School of Social Work in August of 2022. He received his BA in Criminal Justice from Oakland University in 2017 and is currently enrolled in Wayne State's MSW program. After receiving his undergraduate degree, Tyrell spent a year in the AmeriCorps Vista program and relocated to Southwest Colorado. His previous experiences also include working as a Youth Advocate and Restorative Practices facilitator for La Plata Youth Services. Tyrell's primary role on the Substance Use Research Team is managing the data on the Prevent Prescription/Opioid Overdose-related Deaths (MI-PDO) grant and supporting evaluation efforts on other projects, including PPW, PFS, and SOR.
Responsibilities
In his primary role, he creates data collection tools and assists in producing reports for the MI-PDO grant. Additionally, he works closely with MDHHS and Prevention Network stakeholders to support the grant's subrecipients.
