About Us: For more than 20 years Cass Community Social Services (CCSS) has responded to people living in areas of concentrated poverty with food, housing, health/mental care and vocational programs.


Position Summary:

Cass Community Social Services is seeking full-time grants writer to manage its grant portfolio.  The individual will maintain between 30-50 active government, foundation, private and corporate relations. It’s a key role of the organization and is responsible for developing and coordinating efforts to research, identify and maximize funding opportunities available from federal, state, city and private sources.  The individual will demonstrate excellence as a grant researcher and grant writer. Reports directly to the Executive Director.


Responsibilities:

  • Keeps abreast of possible funding opportunities and evaluates opportunities in order to make recommendations to the Executive Director;
  • Writes grant proposals and submits applications in coordination with other staff members, including the Executive Director, that align with agency goals and objectives;
  • Prepares grant applications for submission;
  • Responsible for tracking due dates for grant reporting and writes grant reports as required
  • Develops simple grant budgets when indicated and ensures funds are being expended in a timely manner;
  • Ensure compliance with all grant regulations, requirements, and reporting obligations;
  • Assists in the implementation and management of grants to ensure they are being implemented as written and/or agreed upon by the funding source;
  • Cultivates relationships with funding partners and potential funding partners;

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in a related field (English Communication, Creative Writing) required, Master’s degree preferred;
  • Between 5-15 years of actual work experience in grant writing including research potential funders, generating reports, and interacting with entities necessary for the submission of grant proposals.
  • Must have extensive grant writing experience for human services and/or non-profit organizations, including familiarity with State and Federal funding;
  • Must be proficient in the use of computer software, grant portals, and other technology;
  • Knowledge of and actual work experience with the following online portals; Oracle, eSNAPS, SAGE, Grants.gov/SAM;
  • Knowledge of an actual experience extracting data and submitting reports based on HMIS-generate APR document;
  • Excellent skills as a persuasive writer.
