Rate of Pay: $15.00 per hour
Job Description: The City of Detroit Parks and Recreation Department (DPRD) is a sponsor for the Meet Up Eat Up Summer food Program (SFSP). The DPRD has an opening for a Data Specialist to support the 2019 SFSP. This opportunity will allow staff to acquire experience with an urban food service program. The Data Specialist will deepen their understanding of program development and federal grant compliance across the duration of the program.
Preference:
2 years of research experience, program evaluation skills, and experience using Microsoft Excel.
Scope of Work:
The SFSP requires data collection, program analysis, and program monitoring to maintain grant compliance. The Data Specialist will be asked to:
Support the program coordinator with data capture and entry
Record data presented by program monitors
Conduct research on best practices for overall improvements to the meal service program
Analyze the effectiveness of mobile sites
Analyze data patterns, issues, concerns of SFSP
Prepare documentation for annual SFSP audit
Monitor program compliance documentation
Aid senior staff with planning process for future program years
Design and implement parent survey, identifying barriers to program access
Analyze and report out on survey findings
Conduct two community meetings with parents to better understand how the program can more effectively and efficiently address food insecurity among children in the summer months
Qualifications:
2 years of research experience and/or program evaluation
BA/BS in political science, sociology, urban planning or other related field
Experience with survey development and data analysis
Experience in conducting and reporting out on community engagement sessions
Excellent written and verbal communication skills
Basic knowledge of statistics
Proficiency in Word, PowerPoint, Excel/Google sheets, SPSS or STATA
